We are excited to meet you! We know that you have a lot going on in your life, but we look forward to having you with us and we think you will find WCC to be well worth the investment. It is our hope that you feel welcome at WCC from the moment you step out of your car when you arrive. We desire to have a church where visitors feel comfortable and attendees don’t have to think twice about inviting a friend. We want to offer a safe environment where it’s okay to sit back, observe, and enjoy. This page will tell you all about what to expect when you arrive here on a Sunday morning.

10 am | Worship & Children’s

Church

A typical Sunday morning at WCC...

  • A relaxed worship experience lasting about 70 minutes.

  • A guitar-driven worship band will lead through a few songs.

  • Someone will lead through Communion & Offering.

  • You will hear a great message from God's Word.

  • We will pray and go home!

When you arrive you will be greeted by our team of ushers who are happy to help you find where your kids need to go as well as where you can find the classrooms for some of our adult Sunday School classes. Sunday School classes are currently not meeting, but are making considerations for the near future. Our worship service begins at 10 am which usually lasts around an hour. During the worship service, you will have an opportunity to worship with the band in a contemporary setting and you will hear a great message that will challenge you and help you discover new ways to live your life in service to God.

It is our hope that when you join us on Sundays you will feel welcome and free to worship in your own way. We try to create an environment that does not distract or take anything away from your time in worship and learning.

Where We Meet

The church is located at 716 West St. in Whiting, just one block north of Whiting Community School.

Head West (Southbound turn right; Northbound turn left) onto Whittier St. (Whiting Main St.) and drive thru town to West St. Go north (right) and we are just on the West side of the road.

Directions from Interstate 29

Head East towards Whiting from the interstate and make the first left you can make on West St. as you come into town. We are just on the West side of the road.

Who We Are

Jesus said in Matthew 28 “to GO and make disciples.” This “great commission” is the foundation of our mission and vision as a church, and we are passionate about the responsibility we have to share the love of Jesus with the world around us. Our hope is that each person who is a part of WCC will experience the transforming love of Jesus and be passionate about sharing that love with the world around them.

Building Christ-like communities, one neighbor at a time.

What We Believe

About God

  • God exists eternally in three persons - Father, Son, and Holy Spirit (Matt. 23:19; John 14:16-26).

  • God is the absolute and sole creator of this world and the universe (Gen. 1:1-2:25; John 1:1-4).

  • God, because of His compelling love, sent Jesus Christ into the world to save sinners by His atoning death on Calvary (Isaiah 53:1-6; John 3:16; Rom. 5:8; Eph. 1:3-6).

About Jesus Christ

  • Jesus Christ in the flesh was both God and man.

  • He was born of a virgin and lived a sinless life.

  • He revealed the mind of God in his teaching and performed miracles exactly as described in the four Gospels.

  • He was crucified, died as the penalty for our sins and was raised from the dead, bodily, on the third day. He ascended to the Father. He is the head of the church and intercedes for believers.

  • He is coming again personally, bodily and visibly to this earth. (Phil. 2:5-8; Luke 1:26-35; Heb. 4:14-15; 1 Pet. 2:21-24; 1 Cor. 15:3-5; Acts 1:9-11; Eph. 1:18-23; 1 Thess. 4:15-16; John 14:1-6)

About the Holy Spirit

  • The Holy Spirit lives by promise in the life of the Christian as God's pledge and seal of salvation (Jn. 16:3-11, 13-15; Acts 2:38, 5:3-4; Rom. 8 & 9).

  • The Christian is enabled to grow in spiritual maturity through obedience to the Word of God by the indwelling Spirit (Eph. 4:11-16; Col. 1:9-12; 3:12-17; Eph.1:5-21).

About The Bible

The Bible is the inspired Word of God, written without error and preserved for our instruction.
(I Cor. 2:7-14 II Tim. 3:16; II Pet. 1:20-21)

About Salvation

Man's relationship with God has been broken by his own sin. We can be restored to a relationship with God only through the sacrificial blood of Jesus Christ. Apart from Christ, man remains eternally separated from God, and is ultimately consigned to hell. This restored relationship is based on God's grace, not our efforts. God invites us to accept His gift of grace through faith in Jesus Christ. A repentant life, a confession of Christ's Lordship, and baptism by immersion are necessary responses of our faith as modeled in the New Testament.

(Jn. 3:1-21; Acts 2:37-39, 8:26-39, 10:1-48, 16:11-34, 22:2-16; Rom. 3:21-31, 5:6-11, 6:1-23; 1 Cor. 6:9-11; 15:1-58; Gal. 3:l3-14; Eph. 2:8,9; Heb. 9:11-14; 10:10-13; 1 Pet. 3: 18; 1 John 1:8-10).

About Baptism

We believe that baptism is by immersion into Jesus Christ. It is our natural response of faith and obedience when we choose to surrender to Jesus. In the New Testament Church, those who believed were baptized (immersed) into the name of Jesus. (Acts 2:38-41; Romans 6:3-7; Colossians 2:12; Galatians 3:26-27)
