The North American Christian Convention (NACC) has been held every year since 1927. Through that time, church minister and lay leaders have been receiving leadership training which has helped them to develop their churches into healthy bodies in their local communities.

WCC is excited to be sending a group down to Kansas City this summer to attend NACC. We invite each and every person involved to WCC to consider attending with us and help to further impact the mission which God has called us to here in our community. Please take a moment to check out gotonacc.org to find out more about this opportunity.

We will have more information available for you soon!

24-Hour Prayer Vigil

"And this is the confidence that we have toward Him, that if we ask anything
according to His will He hears us." - 1 John 5:14

It is our desire that God be the central focus of the "Moving Forward Campaign" and that His will leads the hearts of all of us who are involved in planning as well as giving to the project. The church leadership would like to invite the congregation to be a part of praying together asking God to bless this project. The 24-hour Prayer Vigil will run all day Saturday, April 1st and through the night until the morning of Sunday worship. We encourage each of you to be involved by signing up for a 15-minute time slot during the 24 hours.

You can sign up at our Welcome Center in the church lobby or fill out a form here to let us know what time of day you are interested in praying and we will contact you and get you signed up. Thanks so much for being a part of this!

CIY Superstart

  • Community Christian Church - Yellow Box

SuperStart! is an event where preteens will encounter Christ through worship, interactive teaching and small groups – all of which are designed with their unique needs and maturity in mind. Preteens who attend SuperStart! will leave the weekend with not only a great experience, but also the teachings and foundation to further amplify Christ’s call on their lives to become Kingdom Workers.

The demand for preteen-specific ministry has continued to increase within America's churches over the past decade. Many of today's church leaders realize the importance of a purposeful discipleship tactic for young people in fourth through sixth grades. These preteens need more time, space and resources. They need teaching that is specific to their age group - not too young (or "boring," as they would say it) and not too old. CIY's SuperStart! exists to help fill the void for this age group, and to come alongside the church in a fun, inventive way to reach students that are often overlooked.

REGISTRATION IS DUE BY JANUARY 29TH!! Please contact our Children's Ministry Director, Brenda McFarland, if you would like to register your child for SuperStart!

You can also find our more about SuperStart! by visiting ciy.com/superstart

Bless Your Heart: Parent's Night Out

Has it been awhile since you've had an evening out? We are here for you! We want to give you the opportunity to go out without the kids and get some time to yourself. We will provide a safe place for you to drop your kids off and go out on the town, or even just head back home and relax!

We will be providing childcare through adults as well as middle school students who will be giving there time to aid the cost of their trip to CIY Believe in Kansas City. There will also be fun activities and supper provided by preteens who will be giving there time to aid the cost of their trip to CIY SuperStart in Naperville, IL. Whatever you choose to give as compensation for childcare and fun will be divided evenly to bless these students for their trip. And in return we will bless you with a great evening of fun and relaxation!

So we hope you will be able to take advantage of this wonderful evening!

All In "Annual" Meeting

Our next "All In" meeting will be held as part of our Annual Meeting on January 29th following worship. Please join us for a potluck lunch followed by our Annual Meeting in which our members will review and vote on our budget as well as hear an outlook for the coming year. We will also be handing out our new by-laws to be reviewed by members for the upcoming vote to follow two weeks after.

If you are fully on board with the mission and vision of WCC then we want to encourage you to be "All In."

Folks who are "All In" commit to living out the values and vision of the church as determined and set through the study of scripture. They are regularly involved with serving in the church and in the community. They take seriously the call of advancing the Gospel. (Matt. 4:19 & 28:19-20)

"All In" does not replace being a member of the congregation. But those who are members of the church are expected to take on the role of "All In" as an indication of their dedication to scripture and the vision that God has given His church in Whiting, IA. We still encourage membership of the church as a further commitment to advancing the Gospel.

Harvest Dinner

Every year we come together and recognize the blessings that God has given to us as individuals as well as to us as the Body of Christ. As a church we have been given every opportunity to support ministries locally and abroad. Each ministry is equally important and has an impact on the Kingdom of God by spreading the good news of Christ, thus working to accomplish the mission that Christ set for us in Matthew 28.

The Harvest Dinner & Offering has long been a call to each of us in the church to give above and beyond our normal giving to help support each one of our regular missions as well as particular needs that might arise within the community. We invite you to join us for our annual Harvest Dinner & Offering on Sunday, November 13th following worship. The meat and potatoes will be provided, just bring two sides to share with everyone!

Sole Hope Shoe Cutting Party

Many of us have great, everyday blessings of a nice home, two cars, and a closet full of shoes. While we understand these are blessings, there are also reminders that elsewhere there are children beginning their day with barely enough to wear, no clean water, and NO SHOES.

Now you have a chance to change a life. You're invited to join us as we host a shoe party, where will prepare supplies that we gather together, and spend time cutting up old blue jeans and sending to Africa where they will be turned into brand new pairs of shoes for children in need.

Join our Children's Ministry, Kids SLAM, on Wednesday, October 19th from 4-5:30pm as they serve together and bless other children on the other side of the world with new shoes!

You can also help by bringing in these supplies to our lobby at the church:

For the Event:

  • Jeans
  • Large Safety Pins
  • Gallon Size Ziploc Bags
  • Fabric Scissors
  • Thin Plastic (milk jugs, laundry detergent bottles, plastic folders)

Other supplies we'll collect to send to Africa:

  • Sharpies
  • Large Safety Pins
  • Surgical Gloves
  • Cotton Balls
  • Medical Tape
  • Antibiotic Cream
  • Gauze
  • Band-Aids
  • Stickers for the Children

*Please be sure to bring all donations to the church by Sunday, Oct. 16th.
